Mange venlige hilsener

Preliminary invitation, 14 July 2011:
The distinction of genres within contemporary music is dissolving on the live scene and in the recording studio. Contemporary music* seems to be evolving at the dynamic meeting between genres, styles and practices bringing still new artistic forms and expressions to life.
So far, focus has primarily been on what separates one contemporary musical genre from the other. The time has come to explore what is the common ground for all musicians and composers creating new music today.
Rhythmic Music Conservatory (RMC) is pleased to invite you to participate in the 1st Copenhagen Symposium on Contemporary Music (CSCM). The symposium will attempt to find answers to the key questions below:
- What are the core values of contemporary music today?
- How do we work creatively and constructively with contemporary music?
- What are the future artistic perspectives for contemporary music?
- How can we inspire and learn from each other, embracing each others' artistic forms and expressions?
The symposium aims to strengthen the artistic, cultural and educational awareness of contemporary music. At the same time, we hope to create a strong platform for future development of the art form. You are invited to meet other international musicians and composers to discuss values, artistic practice and future perspectives for contemporary music.
The program will include intimate concerts, artistic presentations, round-table dialogues and panel debates. Participation fee will be approx. 75€ /DKK 550.
A detailed program with presentation of artistic keynote speakers, registration procedures as well as hotel options will be sent in mid-September.
We sincerely hope to see you in Copenhagen on 11 November 2011. Have a great summer.
