This conference will focus on the general questions of how to engage in fruitful exchange and dialogue across different worldviews. At a more specific level, the conference will discuss the dialogue practices of the global movement known as Hizmet or the Gülen movement, inspired by the Muslim scholar Fethullah Gülen.
Worldviews play an important role in social relations, particularly in the present age of globalization. Whether they are secular or religious, worldviews are crucial in people’s ways of life around the globe. Often, they are also used to legitimize war, intervention and violence. Yet the contact with different worldviews may also bring valuable insights and inspirations.
