En scenekunstfestival som fokuserer på nye nordiske nordboeres rolle indenfor dans og teater i Norden.
En helt ny scenkonstfestival går av stapeln i Helsingfors 7-12. juni!
International in Nordic Countries (INC) är festivalen som sätter fokus på de nya nordbornas roll inom scenkonsten i Norden. INC bjuder på Shakespeare på "kebabnorska" och street dance, dokumentärteater, samisk jojk och klassiska berättelser i föreställningar från Finland, Sverige, Norge och Danmark.
Under festivalveckan arrangeras workshops och diskussioner för scenkonstnärer och andra intresserade av festivalens tematik. Deltagandet i workshoparna är gratis. Deltagarna får även gratis inträde till alla festivalens föreställningar.

THEATRE FESTIVAL IN HELSINKI, FINLAND, JUNE 7 – 12
International in Nordic Countries (INC) focuses on the role of new Nordic residents in the professional performing arts. What is the role of the theatre in the international and multicultural Nordic societies? Who defines the aesthetics? How about professionalism? What does cultural literacy mean? Festival will host
participants and performances from the Nordic countries.
WORKSHOPS
This is a unique opportunity for theatre people to meet artists, collaborate with them in the workshops, to contribute and to enjoy Nordic performances. All performances and workshops are free of charge for the participants. Please register before May 20th at: www.kassandra.fi/inc
PERFORMANCES
INC will widen your spectrum to the reality of Nordic countries.
Romeo and Juliet combines rap in “Kebab Norwegian” with street dance and Profokiev’s ballet composition.
What’s up God is a documentary performance dealing with young people's relation to religion.
Riksteatern’s performance Vem Sover i Natt? (“Who sleeps tonight?”) is based on the performer’s own life story: fleeing from Somalia to Sweden, adapting to life there and attempting to reunite with the remaining family members.
Antigone, written 2,400 years ago, is a political drama of the present. It unites languages, music and dance from Africa, Asia and Europe.
The Whole Caboodle combines traditional Sami stories and yoik with contemporary stage expression. Performances will be held in Culture Factory Korjaamo and at Diana stage.
SEMINAR
During the weekend there will be a seminar at Diana stage with Helsinki City Theatre’s manager Asko
Sarkola, Riksteatern’s manager Birgitta Englin from Sweden, Nordic Black Theatre’s manager Cliff
Moustache from Norway and director Remi Lewerissa from C:NTAC, Denmark, as keynote speakers. The seminar is open for all, professionals and non-professionals.

A 2,400 year old text reaches the reality of today via words, songs and dances from Finland, Africa and Asia. The roots of the performing artists reach from Japan to Senegal, via Helsinki to Savo and over Ghana and Nigeria to Tampere and Kemi.
Wednesday, June 8th
Romeo and Juliet, Nordic Black Theatre (NO)

The performance, translated into ”Kebab Norwegian” by hip-hop group Forente Minoriterer (United
Minorities), offers a unique experience where street dance and rap meet music from Sergei Prokofiev’s famous ballet score.
Thursday, June 9th
Vem sover i natt? Riksteatern (SE)
19:00 Kulmasali, Korjaamo (Töölönkatu 51 b)
The performance is based on the actress, Ubah Musse's, own life story: the escape from Somalia in the 80s, life in Sweden and attempts to reunite with the remaining family members. The play is written by Mia Thörnquist.
Friday, June 10th
What's up God? C:NTACT/Taskforce (DK)
19:00 Kulmasali, Korjaamo (Töölönkatu 51 b)
The performance looks into youth’s relationship with religion. It is written and performed by Task Force which belongs to C:NTACT project, where young people between 15 and 25 years of age from different ethnic, social and cultural backgrounds produce performances. C:NTACT works in close cooperation with Betty Nansen Teatret. The performance is in English.
Saturday, June 11th
The Whole Caboodle Sara Margarethe Oskal (NO)
16.30 Diana-stage (Erottajankatu 7)
The Whole Caboodle is written and performed by Sara Margarethe Oskal. It combines Sami stories and yoik with modern theatre and humour. Performance is in Sami and will be translated into English.
